The logo of the Artilleros de Maunabo: a white "M" in script, glowing in light blue, on a navy circle bordered in light blue-white-light blue.

Artilleros de Maunabo

Before the War for the Republic, when a ragtag group of maunabeño artillerymen and mountain-trained infantry held off the Spanish navy and army for months to prevent them from establishing a stable beachhead in the south, the town was famous for exactly one thing: crab, which it produced and consumed in great quantities.

Mascot: Colubrejo

(culebrina “culverin” + cangrejo “crab”)

Colubrejo, the mascot of the Artilleros de Maunabo, is a very angry blue crab with a white belly and legs ending in midnight-blue feet, and a midnight-blue cannon on each shoulder with a blue wheel.
