The logo of the Liga Nacional Puertorriqueña: a big sky-blue circle, bordered in red and white, surrounding a smaller circle of darker blue with white borders, superimposed on which is a red-and-white nautical star that hosts the acronym "LNP" in black block letters.

Chupacabras de Canóvanas

Although the chupacabras is considered these days a general Latin American monster, its first recorded sighting was in the town of Canóvanas. Presumably an earlier occurrence, which went unrecorded, was the impetus behind the local baseball team’s naming.

Mascot: Cuernoespín

(cuerno “horn” + puercoespín “hedgehog”)

No monster has ever been so disarming as Cuernoespín, the mascot of the Chupacabras de Canóvanas. I mean, look at this thing. It's a big smiley purple monster, with a black belly and big happy golden eyes and an adorable little blue nose. Would you even notice the blue markings that help it hide on some alien world's grass? Or the golden claws at its hands and feet? Or the metallic spikes that adorn its back and little horns that it could use at any moment? Be happy it's this cute. It's probably just not annoyed right now.
