Patillas boasts of no less a patron than St. Benedict of Nursia, who, as legend—and the chronicle on the town’s coat of arms—have it, was once saved from a poisoning attempt by enemy monks when a helpful crow miraculously appeared and ate the offending bread.

Mascot: Gafástrofe

(gafas “sunglasses” + catástrofe “catastrophe”)

We're going to try and describe Gafástrofe, the mascot of the Cuervos de Patillas. It's an impossibly cool crow, the kind of purple comic books use to symbolize black leather, with light blue beak and talons, and a pair of sunglasses whose black lenses are reflecting white lightning. We even feel a little overwhelmed to write the alt text for a creature whose one glance would outshine us all.
