The logo of the Liga Nacional Puertorriqueña: a big sky-blue circle, bordered in red and white, surrounding a smaller circle of darker blue with white borders, superimposed on which is a red-and-white nautical star that hosts the acronym "LNP" in black block letters.

Lobos de Arecibo

Manuel Rojas took the final surrender of Spanish troops in Puerto Rico at Arecibo, which had some history with being invaded by European powers—but, notably, entirely lacks wolves, suggesting that the town’s sponsors chose the name purely for the animal’s fearsome nature.

Mascot: Lobravo

(lobo “wolf” + bravo “angry”)

Lobravo, the mascot of the Lobos de Arecibo, is a guard dog on steroids: a snow-white wolf showing its sharp teeth and red eyes as it rears at the viewer, pink triangular ears alert. Despite that, it's hard not to imagine this very same canine sniffing you with his pink snout, and maybe even giving you some kisses.
