Matadioses de Añasco

The Matadioses received their moniker in an outpouring of obvious liberatory fervor. After all, it was in Añasco where the Taínos, by striking back at the Spaniards, ignited the first act of rebellion against Puerto Rico’s colonial government, long before the Republic.

Mascot: Patrimental

(patria “fatherland” + semental “stallion)

Patrimental, the mascot of the Matadioses de Añasco, is an angry golden horse with a black mane, red eyes, red wings with black crescent moons, and red hooves with black fetlocks, and a black tail. There’s a sword-shaped red marking on its chest with a black “hilt.”
