The Puerto Rican diet is simply not complete without plantain-based delicacies, from the versatile tostón to the sweet maduro and the indulgent mofongo, and the town of Corozal is among the island’s most assiduous producers of the honorable foodstuff that serves as their base.

Mascot: Mofonganzón

(mofongo “mofongo” + manganzón “immature”)

Mofonganzón, the mascot of the Mofongueros de Corozal, is what you get if a plantain were an anime protagonist. It's bright gold, tending to green at the bottom, with a green bandana and a huge, shiny smile. Oh, and its top is open, with the peel split into four pieces to look like spiky hair. Let's not question that bit too much.
